Individual Spanish Therapy (EMDR Therapy in Spanish in Denver, CO)

Many Adults Struggle With Stress, Loneliness, and Doubt

Although you may feel deeply isolated, even when surrounded by friends and family, you are not alone in your grief. Most adults have had depression and/or anxiety problems at some point in their lives. So what you are going through now does not mean that there is something wrong with you.

During childhood, you begin to develop an understanding of the world, along with your place in it. Parents, family members, and others in your life demonstrate and model how to handle difficult emotions and how to relate to each other.

In an ideal world, all children would grow up feeling accepted, important, loved, and safe. However, in reality, no family is perfect, and many children grow up learning unhealthy behaviors.

For example, maybe your parents were often absent or negligent, even if they didn’t want to be. You may have seen your parents work hard to support the family, but you rarely received individualized time and attention. And now, as an adult, you may work so hard that you barely have the energy to take care of your own needs.

It is also possible that he grew up in a home where there was abuse or addiction. Or maybe your childhood was marked by a sudden loss, change, or separation from loved ones, especially if you and/or your family members are immigrants. As a result, the world can appear unsafe and unstable. You may find it difficult to establish long-lasting and trusting relationships with others, or even to trust your own perception.

Fortunately, no matter what you are struggling with, and no matter what patterns you carry from your family of origin, relief is possible. With the support of a therapist who specializes in highly effective eye movement, desensitization, and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, you can live more easily.

You May Have Questions or Concerns About Individual Spanish Therapy

As a Spanish therapist with over a decade of experience, I offer compassionate support and guidance so that you can develop the skills you need to feel capable and empowered in the present moment. You don’t have to get stuck in the patterns of the past.

During the sessions, I will adjust my approach to work at your pace and meet your individual needs. Our first sessions are to help you feel safe, comfortable and understood. I will listen to your story, helping you clarify the experiences and emotions that have led you to therapy. As I get to know you and your story, I will focus on your strengths to help you recognize how resilient you have already been throughout your life.

During Your Therapy Session

I’ll also help you learn effective ways to regulate your emotions so that you regulate and calm yourself, even in times of distress or anxiety. During the sessions, you can begin to shift your attention to positive emotions and practice mindfulness, allowing you to participate in the present moment. This is known as “Mindfulness”

When you feel ready, I will slowly help you address stressful topics and productively deal with uncomfortable feelings as they arise. By doing this work in a safe and supportive space, you can see that you have power over your thoughts and feelings, they have no power over you.

EMDR therapy is central to my practice. This powerful evidence-based approach targets the core issues underlying your anxiety and depression symptoms without forcing you to relive the pain of traumatic or stressful events. You can process old hurts and challenge any negative beliefs that you have developed about yourself, replacing them with a more realistic picture of your abilities or strengths. In general, you can stop feeling drawn into the past and start living fully in the present.

As an immigrant, I know how painful change, loneliness, and culture shock can be. I understand what it’s like to move through a world that feels dangerous and unwelcoming. No matter what you have experienced, you are not alone and you don’t have to keep fighting. We can work together on this.

With help, you can begin to feel confident, competent, and capable of building healthy relationships. You can learn to love yourself.

You may have questions or concerns about trauma, depression, and / or anxiety treatment …

We all face losses, problems, and difficult transitions at some point in our lives. We all need support and guidance sometimes. During these challenging times, or really, at any time, it’s okay to seek help. Reaching it does not make you “crazy”, it makes you responsible; individual therapy is for all who long for a happier and lighter life.

Talking about difficult feelings can be difficult, especially if your family never talked about your emotions when you were little. For example, men are often encouraged to bury their emotions and put up a tough face, especially Latino men.

I understand how awkward opening can be. But, regardless of its origin, I am here to listen to you. I won’t push you into topics you don’t want to talk about, and I won’t rush you. My responsibility is to make you feel safe and facilitate your healing. And, with EMDR, you can look carefully at old wounds, not reopen them, but ultimately find relief.

You may already feel overwhelmed and out of time for yourself in your life. In my experience, mothers especially have a hard time making themselves a priority. As a mother, I understand.

I also know that investing in therapy and taking care of yourself can help you be more present with your children. You become a healthy role model for your children. In fact, learning how to regulate worries and combat self-doubt can help you become more deeply involved in every aspect of your life.

By addressing issues now, you can discover the resources within you to care for yourself and your loved ones throughout your future.

You are not defined by your past. If you are ready to feel empowered and at peace, I invite you to call me at 720 276 9188. I would love to meet and discuss my approach to individual therapy. I offer psychotherapy in Spanish and English.
